SEAL BEACH, CA —Authorities asked for the public's help to identify a man who they say brandished a handgun during a sale at a Seal Beach shoe store Saturday morning.

Witnesses described the man as 6 feet, 4 inches tall with a thin build, the Seal Beach Police Department said. He has a dark skin tone and pockmarks on his face.

The incident happened around 10:44 a.m. outside the Private Sneakers store at 12410 Seal Beach Blvd. The store was selling special-edition shoes at the time, attracting a long line of customers, police said.

An argument about someone cutting the line broke out between two adults at the sale, according to Seal Beach police.

"During this heated exchange, the male suspect allegedly removed a handgun from his waistband, held the firearm at his side, pointed it toward the ground and advanced toward the individual with whom he was arguing," Seal Beach police Lt. Nick Nicholas said.

The man with the gun then walked away from the store and left the area in a car with a woman passenger, Nicholas said. Police have not found the man or the car, he said.
