Seal Beach To Step Up DUI Enforcement For St. Patrick's Day
The Seal Beach Police Department said more officers will be out to catch anyone suspected of drugged or drunk driving.
SEAL BEACH, CA — Residents looking to celebrate St. Patrick's Day on Thursday should do so responsibly as the Seal Beach Police Department will step up its DUI enforcement, looking for any drugged or drunk drivers.
Additional police officers will patrol the city during the holiday, both on foot and by car, the agency said.
City officials have also set up an "active pick-up and drop-off zone" for the Main Street and Old Town area for designated drivers and rideshare services to pick up passengers during St. Patricks Day, Seal Beach police said.

Seal Beach Police Chief Philip Gonshak said in a statement anyone celebrating the holiday should have a "game plan" ready before they go drinking.
"Designated a sober driver or make other plans to get home safely," he said.

The "active pick-up and drop-off zone" will be in the 900 block of Ocean Avenue between Main Street and 10th Street from noon to 2:30 a.m. on St. Patrick's Day, Seal Beach police said.
