SigAlert Closes 7th Street Ramp to 605, 22 Freeways

A 24-hour shutdown is ordered after a big-rig loses its load, damaging a bridge and guardrail.

A 217-ton piece of machinery fell off a big-rig early Friday, cracking a bridge and shutting down the 7th Street on-ramp to the north 605 and east 22 freeways, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident, which happened around 4:40 a.m., also closed the Studebaker on-ramp to the east 22, according to CHP logs.

The fallen load punched through a guardrail and scattered concrete debris across all lanes, the logs said. Caltrans was summoned to survey the damage.
