LOS GATOS, CA — Netflix had a record-breaking week when Volume 1 of the fifth season of its teen science fiction hit, “Stranger Things,” saw the biggest premiere week for an English-language show in the streamer’s history with 59.6 million views, according to Tudum, Netflix’s fan news website.

“The sheer number of fans who have already watched Volume 1 is staggering — the response has been more than we ever could have dreamed,” creators Matt and Ross Duffer told Tudum. “The show is now a decade old, and seeing the fanbase not only endure but continue to grow has been incredibly rewarding for us, the actors, and the thousands of artists who helped bring this story to life.”

Volume 1 of the new season, which will be the show’s last, ranked No. 1 in 90 of 93 countries tracked, according to Tudum.
