Closing Statements: John Sibert
What City Council Candidate John Sibert wants residents to know before April 10.

From April 3-6, Malibu Patch will share a running series called 'Closing Statements.' It will give the seven City Council candidates an opportunity to share with readers their final thoughts regarding the upcoming election. Election day is April 10. The statement below is written by John Sibert.
Why should you vote for me for a second term on the Malibu City Council? Because I bring a broad range of experience, plus a record of success in a number public and private positions. I will let the voters decide whether I have served them well over the past four years. My core beliefs in Malibu City governance are the following:
- Belief that civil discourse and high ethical practice is the best way to solve problems
- Belief in sound fiscal management while providing the services Malibu needs and can afford
- Belief in controlling commercial growth within the limits of the law and re-addressing the law and the regulators wherever possible.
- Belief in sustaining and improving our environment
- Belief in support for youth and the schools
- Belief in enhancing public safety, not with band aids but with comprehensive planning and financing
- Belief that constructive engagement with external agencies will gain us more in the long term than continuing confrontation
- Belief that scientific reasoning should be applied where justified – belief in science not necessarily scientists.
If you also share those beliefs, I ask for your vote on April 10.
