Malibu City Staff Are Monitoring Coronavirus

City of Malibu staff are participating in regular conference calls with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Healt​h.

MALIBU, CA — City staff in Malibu are participating in regular conference calls with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to receive the latest updates on the new coronavirus and reviewing emergency procedures should an outbreak occur, the City announced Thursday.

Gov. Gavin Newsom said Thursday 8,400 people are being monitored in 49 jurisdictions in California for symptoms of the disease. Newsom also said 33 people in California have tested positive for the virus, although five of them left the state.

  • Washing hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. Using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not on hand.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with your elbow or a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
