Malibu Community Services Director Elected As CPRS President
Jesse Bobbett will serve a one-year term as president of the Society's District 9, which stretches from Malibu to Rancho Palos Verdes.

MALIBU, CA — May was a great month for Malibu's Community Services staff. The department's director, Jesse Bobbett was elected as the president of the California Park and Recreation Society and several Community Services staff members won CPRS awards.
“Having City staff serving in leadership positions of professional associations like the CPRS elevates the City’s reputation and helps ensure that Malibu is up-to-date on industry best practices,” Mayor Skylar Peak said. “These connections will help us provide the best possible recreation, parks, arts and culture programs for our community.”
Jesse Bobbett, who was hired as director of Malibu’s Community Services Department in November 2016, will serve a one-year term as president of the Society’s District 9, which stretches from Malibu to Rancho Palos Verdes, Torrance and parts of Los Angeles.

At the CPRS District 9 Awards and Installation Ceremony on Thursday, May 4, Community Services staff members Rebecca Ramos, Bryanna Edwards and Amara Gwyn were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the community while working for the Department.
Founded in 1946, the CPRS is a non-profit, professional and public interest organization with close to 4,000 members. CPRS membership is well-distributed, with 86 percent of park and recreation agencies in California boasting at least one CPRS individual member. In addition, over 175 park and recreation agencies are themselves CPRS member organizations.

The CPRS’s mission is to advance the park and recreation profession through education, networking, resources and advocacy. CPRS is the source of resources, tools, advocacy and events that strengthen California's public parks and recreation industry and our professionals. CPRS unites members and creates networks across disciplines and agency boundaries to achieve together what can not be done alone.
