Author, Congressional Candidate Marianne Williamson Announces Candidacy
Marianne Williamson will challenge Rep. Henry Waxman for his seat representing the 33rd Congressional District.

Best-selling author Marianne Williamson has announced her candidacy to represent the 33rd Congressional District, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Rep. Henry Waxman (D) currently represents the 33rd district, which stretches along the coast from the Palos Verdes Peninsula all the way up to Beverly Hills and Malibu.
Williamson is a lifelong Democrat who plans to run as an independent.
"I believe that a wave of independent candidates, all committed to a huge course-correction, is necessary to turn our ship around," she told the Huffington Post. "I feel my campaign, and most importantly my win, can help inspire such a movement."
Williamson is not the only person who's announced her candidacy for the 33rd District. Brent Roske, a television producer and director, earlier said he would run, according to the L.A. Times.
Waxman held onto his seat last year despite an expensive challenge by independent businessman and former Republican Bill Bloomfield.
