PCH To Close Overnight In Malibu Starting Monday

One lane in each direction between Big Rock Drive and Pena Road/Las Tunas State Beach will be closed from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. the next day.

MALIBU, CA -- Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu will be closed overnight starting Monday for storm repairs, the California Department of Transportation announced.

One lane in each direction between Big Rock Drive and Pena Road/Las Tunas State Beach will be closed from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. the next day, Caltrans said.

Lanes are expected six nights a week, excluding Sunday nights, Caltrans said. The agency said the closures are expected to last until late April, noting that the "schedule is tentative and subject to change."

Intermittent full highway closures in the affected area are possible for 5 to 15 minutes, the agency said.

"The closures are required for safety as workers stabilize a slope affected by severe storms in January," Caltrans said. "Crews will remove rocks and other loose material that may slide down in future storms
and install cable net drapery to stabilize the slope."
