MALIBU, CA — The Los Angeles County Beaches and Harbors Department has closed the Point Dume access road due to a potential bluff failure, the city of Malibu announced on Twitter late last week.

The road is closed at the end of Westward Beach Road, originally due to a debris flow onto the road from a property on Birdview Avenue, but the potential bluff failure, with concern for more, has kept the roadway to the popular Malibu beachfront closed.

The public should avoid the area, beware falling rocks and debris and land movement, the Beaches and Harbor Department said on its website Monday, March 6.
