In Malibu, both lanes of Encinal Canyon Road were reported blocked by mud and rocks at 1:15 a.m.

CHP Officer Tony Polizzi said there had been a significant increase in the number of accidents through Friday night and early today.
Most of the reported accidents involved solo vehicles on freeway entry and exit ramps, or on transition lanes between freeways, Polizzi said.

Rainfall totals for the 12 hours to 5 a.m. today ranged from 0.29 inches in Northridge to 1.61 inches at Los Angeles City College, according to the California Nevada River Forecast Center.
