Advisory Board Tours "Affordable" Housing Sites
County housing advocates hosted a three-hour bus tour for people who wanted to see what kind of housing Menlo Park officials are writing into the city's general plan.

Menlo Park's Housing Element Update Steering Committee is working on rewriting the city's land use laws to accomodate "affordable" housing. As businesses expand, the city is supposed to modify the city's general plan to allow developers to build homes for these new workers. , although it has approved permits for major projects.
When the city's deficiency of affordable housing was put into the spotlight. Now, the HEUS committee has about six months to update the city's plan to allow for development of affordable housing, identify specific locations where this can happen, and add rules that will govern how this land can be used.
The Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County organized a three-hour bus tour this weekend to take people to locations in the county where affordable housing already exists.
