Blaze Next Door To Fire Station Quickly Put Out
The house fire was extinguished by Menlo Park Fire Station 77 in 14 minutes. Two residents were displaced, but no one was hurt.

MENLO PARK, CA -- Location, location, location pays off when a homeowner lives two doors down from a fire station.
The Menlo Park Fire Protection District proved it when it received a report at 12:22 p.m. Saturday of smoke billowing out of a single-story home on Chilco Street, feet away from Station 77. There, someone had also banged on the door and ran the bell to alert firefighters.
Capt. Jeff Schreiber assembled a crew to knock down the fire at 12:36 p.m.

No one was injured in the fire takedown. The two residents were away at the time of the fire, which likely started in a kitchen area where a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker were set up.
The American Red Cross was called in to work with the displaced residents.
