Menlo Park Man Arrested After Palo Alto Golf Club Attack: Police
Police allege the man attacked an acquaintance with a golf club during an argument in Palo Alto.

MENLO PARK, CA — A Menlo Park man is accused of attempted murder after police allege he attacked a man with a golf club in Palo Alto, causing significant head injuries.
According to police, a woman called 911 on Monday and told dispatchers her boyfriend had just been attacked along a creek embankment off East Bayshore Road. Officers arrived in the area and found the victim with serious injuries. Medics from the Palo Alto Fire Department rushed the man to a local hospital, and he is expected to survive.
Police said an investigation determined the woman and her boyfriend were on the embankment when they were confronted by an acquaintance holding a golf club. The woman told detectives that an argument ensued between the two men, leading to the suspect hitting her boyfriend in the head with the golf club and threatening to kill him.

According to investigators, the suspect picked up a kitchen knife and continued to make threats before leaving the area on a bicycle.
Police identified the suspect Wednesday as Franco Serapio, 48, of Menlo Park. Detectives secured an arrest warrant on suspicion of attempted murder, criminal threats and brandishing. Investigators said Serapio turned himself in to police in East Palo Alto who turned him over to officers in Palo Alto.
