UPDATED: Menlo School Girls Win Title Game

Menlo School wins Notre Dame Invitational Title with 55-36 win over the host Tigers. Drew Edelman named tournament MVP.

 

The Menlo School girls' basketball team earned a spot in the championship game of the Notre Dame tournament after beating Moreau Catholic, 55-33, on Friday.

The Knights (7-3) beat the host Tigers in Saturday night's title game, 55-36 as tournament MVP Drew Edelman scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Hannah Paye was also named to the all-tournament team.

In other girls' games involving schools in Peninsula Patch's area on Friday, Burlingame improved to 10-0 with a 70-42 victory over Paradise as Dana Michaels scored 35 points; Erin Lucett and Keta Iongi each scored 14 points to lead Carlmont past Overfelt, 54-25; Taylor Brazil had 11 points as Capuchino beat San Lorenzo Valley, 47-6; Sharnan Lionel netted 16 points and Madison Michelis added 15 as Woodside got by Homestead, 56-50; and Chacitty Cunningham scored 10 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer, to help Eastside Prep beat St. Francis, 42-39.

Castilleja lost to San Benito, 59-33; Sacred Heart Prep dropped a 55-50 overtime decision to Monta Vista Christian; and Newark beat Menlo-Atherton, 57-31.

In boys games, Michael Costello scored 18 points to help Carlmont beat Scripps Ranch, 46-31; Aubrey Dawkins had 29 points and Aldis Petriceks had 23 as Palo Alto knocked off Analy, 72-64, in overtime; Mitchell Hickman scored 23 points to lead Woodside past Waterford, 62-44; Michael Smith netted 26 points and Elijah White added 24 as El Camino got past Mountain View, 72-59; and Ricky Galliani had 14 points in Sacred Heart Prep's 55-45 win over St. Stephens (Houston).

Burlingame topped Branson, 39-36; Capuchino lost to Monta Vista, 42-26; and Hillsdale dropped a 53-44 decision to Santa Teresa.
