
A mountain lion was roaming the area near Portola Road and Sand Hill Road Monday at 2 a.m., according to San Mateo County’s Emergency Services.
Mountain lions live throughout San Mateo County and are usually quiet animals that avoid humans. County officials recommend staying away from them if possible. However, if you do encounter a mountain lion, they suggest facing the animal and trying to make yourself bigger by waving your arms.
