New Restaurant Brings Elevated Breakfast & Lunch To Menlo Park
Sand Hill Kitchen serves chef-curated menu for dine-in & takeout at eatery that opened Monday at the Silicon Valley's Sand Hill Collection.
MENLO PARK, CA — Sand Hill Kitchen, a seasonally inspired restaurant serving creative takes on breakfast, lunch and takeout, opened Monday at The Quad at Sand Hill Collection in Menlo Park.
With an inventive menu, indoor-outdoor dining and a grab-and-go counter, the eatery is situated in the heart of the workspace/office complex on Sand Hill Road, overlooking Stanford University.
“We didn’t decide on the word ‘kitchen’ by accident,” said Benjamin Elder, managing director of San Francisco-based DivcoWest, Sand Hill Collection developer. “We envisioned the space as an extension of this most important place in one’s home, a first and last stop of the day in the heart of the campus where the community can grab a quick cup of coffee, enjoy a casual business lunch with colleagues, or come together to laugh, debate and pitch ideas.”

At the helm of the modern, bright and airy restaurant is Executive Chef Nicolai Tuban, from the complex's food service partner, Bon Appétit Management Co.
“Sand Hill Kitchen is all about celebrating the Northern California lifestyle and offering a fresh perspective on farm-to-table cuisine, starting with the ingredients,” said Tuban, who also is planning an on-site garden.

Tuban's menu features salads, soups, sandwiches and entrées, using "humanely raised meat, certified cage-free shell eggs and responsibly sourced fish," the chef said. (See photo slideshow at top of this post to view some of his dishes, including an elevated twist on a Caesar salad.)
Among menu options:
- The Bodega breakfast sandwich with egg, cheddar, arugula, herb aioli & house-made miso pork sausage;
- Greek yogurt parfait with house-made maple granola, berries, local honey & bee pollen;
- Brined chicken paillard with crumbed chicken breast, caper aioli, frisee & Meyer lemon
- Thai salad with herb mix, carrots, green papaya, cucumber, candied cashews & sweet chili vinaigrette;
- Grilled, wild-caught salmon with blistered peppers, toasted farro, parsley, lemon & salsa verde;
- Grass-fed beef burger with cheese, house dressing, konbu pickle, shaved onion & bibb lettuce.
Sand Hill Kitchen, at 2400 Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park, is open Mondays through Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For now, the restaurant serves mocktails, with future plans to add liquor service and happy hour, management said.
