Peninsula House Fire Causes $275,000 In Damages
More than 23 firefighters responded to the first alarm fire.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA -- A house fire in San Mateo County caused an estimated $275,000 in damages on Friday. The fire was reported around 11:33 p.m. at 298 Beresford Avenue in Shelby Tract, officials said.
More than 23 firefighters responded to the first alarm fire, possibly caused by a gas or electric fireplace, that caused visible smoke throughout the area, officials said.
Menlo Battalion Chief Tom Calvert said “firefighters brought the fire under control in about 25 minutes because it had gotten into the attic space and run the length of the building."

No one was home at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured during the incident. A small dog ran out of the building as firefighters entered and was still missing Saturday morning.
