Police Arrest Teen For Burglarizing Suburban Park Home

The teen is 14.

Menlo Park Police arrested a teen Thursday afternoon for the burglary of a home in the Suburban Park neighborhood.  

At about 12:45 in the afternoon, a neighbor reported seeing a suspicious person on Oakhurst Pl., according to Menlo Park Police Sergeant Matthew Ortega.

“The suspect was described as a black male juvenile, wearing dark clothing and carrying a backpack,” Ortega said.

Officers arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and saw him emerge from a yard.  Police approached the 14-year-old male to investigate what he was doing there. 

Officers say the home he walked out of had been burglarized.

When they searched the teen, they found an iPhone, a black Guess watch, a set of Apple earphones, and a charger.  Police say these objects were stolen from the home.  The teen was arrested for a breaking into the home, which is a felony offense.  He was booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Facility.

“The Menlo Park Police Department will continue to take pro-active steps in ensuring the safety of our residents and ask that any suspicious activity be immediately reported to our dispatch center,” Ortega said.
