
Menlo Park Police arrested Jamie Maldonado on Wednesday for stealing iPad 2s from three schools, after following up with Atherton police on a similar case.
Police Spokesperson Nicole Acker says that the 20 year old is being charged with numerous burglary counts, and that he admitted to taking the iPads.
School and the were the ones burgled. Maldonado is taking the fall for what was San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe says was a group endeavor.
Wagstaffe also says that Maldonado has been in custody prior to this incident for the theft of laptops from Palo Alto Unified School District. He was on probation for possession of stolen property.
26 iPad 2s total were stolen from the district, according to Mike Melton, Principal of Hillview Middle School.

“We plan on having 26 fully functional iPads back in the hands of our students within the next couple of weeks,” Melton said.
He was pleased that Menlo Park police and Atheron police worked with the Menlo Park City School District to solve the case. It is set to appear before a judge on Sept. 29.
