1 Arrest, 20 Citations Given Out At DUI Checkpoint In San Mateo County: Police
The sheriff's office conducted a DUI checkpoint they announced earlier the same day.
MILLBRAE, CA — The sheriff's office screened over 1,200 drivers at a DUI checkpoint Friday and Saturday in Millbrae.
The San Mateo Sheriff's Office conducted the DUI checkpoint from 6 p.m. on July 25 to 2 a.m. on July 26 on the 100 block of El Camino Real in Millbrae.
At the checkpoint, the sheriff's office screened 1,224 vehicles, conducted 20 field sobriety tests, cited 13 drivers for operating a car without a license, cited six drivers for not having their license on them, and arrested one suspect for driving under the influence and for selling suspected drugs, police said.

Drivers caught under the influence and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, police said.
"Drivers are reminded to never drive under the influence. If you’re thinking about consuming alcohol, make a plan beforehand. Use a ride-share service, a taxi or designate a driver to get home safely," police said.
