Caltrain Plans To Move Headquarters To Millbrae

Caltrain will join SamTrans in making the trip from San Carlos to Millbrae next year.

MILLBRAE, CA — Caltrain will relocate its headquarters to Millbrae, joining SamTrans in vacating their formerly shared facility in San Carlos.

Last year, SamTrans entered a $126 million lease-to-purchase agreement for a 180,000-square-foot headquarters on BART-owned property near the Millbrae Transit Center. Caltrain began weighing its options in March and settled on joining SamTrans at the new facility on the fourth floor.

"Our new headquarters will provide the modern facilities and convenient location our team needs, with seamless access to the Millbrae Transit Station and the entire Caltrain corridor," said Caltrain Executive Director Michelle Bouchard. "After a thorough evaluation of several options,w e believe this is the best choice for Caltrain."

The transit agency signed a 10-year lease that will begin when SamTrans begins occupying the building, with options for two five-year extensions.
