Caltrain Suspends Trips Between Millbrae & SF Over Next 2 Weekends
More electrification work will see service suspended between the Millbrae and San Francisco twice this month. Here's what to know.

MILLBRAE, CA — Caltrain will again suspend trains between Millbrae and San Francisco over the next two weekends as an ambitious electrification and modernization project nears its final stretch. The upcoming interruptions will mark the 20th and 21st of the 30 weekends Caltrain allotted for the work this year, allowing crews to place electric infrastructure and test electrified service.
"Caltrain's historic electrification project is the first undertaking in North America in a generation in which diesel trains and their infrastructure components are transition to an electrified system," Caltrain wrote Tuesday. "The project will improve the customer experience by increasing the number of trains, modernizing service and adding new safety elements."
The next set of interruptions will take place from Oct. 7 - 8 and Oct. 14 -15, impacting all stations between San Francisco and Millbrae.

Limited bus bridge service will be available, but officials encourage riders to seek alternative options. According to Caltrain, revelers heading to Fleet Week or Chase Center for the weekend should transfer to the BART at Millbrae. Fans heading out to see the 49ers and Cowboys game at Levi's Stadium can take Caltrain south and transfer to the VTA light rail at Mountain View, or take BART to Milpitas and transfer to the light rail.
Electrified Caltrain service is on-track to launch next fall, equipped with new trains with digital trip displays, better storage, baby-changing tables, Wi-Fi and power outlets at every seat.
