Last Week for Millbrae Police Department
The Sheriff's Office will assume all police responsibilities.

On March 4, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department will assume all public safety services in Millbrae.
The Sheriff’s Office station will be located in the current Millbrae Police Department building, located at 581 Magnolia Ave, and will maintain the same operating hours.
The takeover comes after months of discussions and negotiations between the City of Millbrae and the Sheriff’s Office. City officials initiated outsourcing discussions with the Sheriff’s Office last fall after Chief Neil Telford . At the time, Chief Telford said the Millbrae Police Department was critically understaffed, with some officers working as much as 16-hour days, leading to fatigue and stress.
