Man Accused Of Causing 2 Crashes, Driving Drunk And Carrying Ghost Gun

Deputies allege a man was driving under the influence and carrying an illegal gun when he got into two hit-and-runs near a Millbrae school.

MILLBRAE, CA — A Victorville man is accused of a laundry list of crimes after investigators allege he was responsible for two hit-and-run crashes while drunk driving and carrying a loaded ghost gun near a Millbrae middle school.

According to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, deputies rushed to Taylor Boulevard and Ashton Avenue after 911 callers reported two non-injury crashes around 1:45 p.m. Thursday. After saturating the area, deputies located a vehicle matching the description and pulled over the driver.

The sheriff's office identified the suspect as Darius Lewis, 23, and allege he showed signs of alcohol impairment during the traffic stop. Officials said deputies discovered a loaded, unserialized gun during the arrest. While deputies were transporting Lewis to the Maguire Correctional Facility, investigators allege he caused "significant damage" to the inside of the patrol car.
