Man Accused of Murdering Woman in 1995 Arrested

Texas officers earlier this month arrested a man accused of murdering a San Mateo County woman who was found dead in her home more than 15 years ago.

Jose Luis Arreola, 37, allegedly murdered Gabriella Tello, 19, who was found stabbed to death inside her home at 2356 Ralmar Ave. in East Palo Alto on the evening of May 21, 1995, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

Tello's 2-year-old daughter was unharmed, deputies said.

Arreola, later identified as Tello's boyfriend, evaded arrest by allegedly using several aliases over the years, including Mario Garcia and Gerardo Tello, according to the sheriff's office.

He was arrested March 10 after officers spotted him at the Mexican border near Laredo, Texas. He was transferred to California on Wednesday.
