Rock Guitarist and Millbrae Resident Ronnie Montrose Dies
He was working on releasing his first DVD.

Rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose died in his home in Millbrae on Saturday at age 64, the Associated Press reported.
He formed his own band in 1973, Montrose, and also played with Sammy Hagar, Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs, Herbie Hancock and other rock legends throughout his career.
Montrose had been ill for some time due to prostate cancer, his agent Jim Douglas told the Associated Press.

“He'd battled cancer, and staved off old age for long enough. True to form, he chose his own exit the way he chose his own life,” said a statement on Montrose’s website.
He is survived by his wife Leighsa, a son and a daughter, and five grandchildren.

He was working on releasing his first DVD and was about to go on tour, his agent told the Associated Press.
