'Atmospheric River' Unloads On Marin
More than 9 inches of rain fell on Mount Tamalpais through 4 a.m. on Monday, according to the National Weather Service
MARIN COUNTY, CA — A powerful “atmospheric river” over the weekend drenched Marin, with more than 9 inches of the wet stuff falling on Mount Tamalpais through early Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Heavy rain fell throughout Marin, which received more than 7 inches of rain as of around 10:30 a.m., the NWS said.
Approximately 4.65 inches of rain fell on San Rafael, ABC News meteorologist Mike Nicco tweeted.

The better-than-expected rainfall totals is welcome news for Marin, which is facing a water crisis amid an extended drought, NWS Meteorologist Drew Peterson told Bay Area News Group
“Overall, there’s a lot to like about this storm — a lot of beneficial rainfall that we desperately need,” Peterson told the news outlet. “But it’s not going to solve all of our multi-year drought woes in a single stroke.”
