Mill Valley Man Found Dead After Apparent Fall
Authorities believe Alexander Merritt Lang, 36, suffered fatal injuries when after falling from a cliff in the Marin Headlands.
MARIN COUNTY, CA – A Mill Valley man’s body was found in the Marin Headlands earlier this week, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities believe Alexander Merritt Lang, 36, suffered fatal injuries falling from a cliff.
National Park Service rangers at around 10 a.m. on Monday responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in the middle of the roadway of the Point Bonita Lighthouse parking area, the Sheriff’s Office said.

During a search for the driver a ranger located an unresponsive person at the bottom of a cliff in an area accessible only by water or air, the Sheriff’s Office said.
“The rescue was complicated by weather and tidal conditions making it difficult to access the subject,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

“A helicopter rescue was ultimately completed by the United States Coast Guard and the subject was airlifted to the Battery Mendell at Fort Berry in the Marin Headlands.
“Regrettably the subject appeared to have sustained multiple traumatic injuries consistent with a long fall and remained lifeless; his death was pronounced on the scene without resuscitative aid provided.”
