Mill Valley Readies To Resume Storied Dipsea Race
The 110th Annual Dipsea, originally scheduled for June 13, was pushed back to November amid uncertainty surrounding the pandemic.
MILL VALLEY, CA — After a one-year hiatus amid the pandemic, trail runners from near and far are readying to descend on Mill Valley for an annual tradition.
The 110th Annual Dipsea, originally scheduled for June 13, was pushed back to the fall earlier this year amid uncertainty surrounding the pandemic. The postponement was the race’s first since 1939.
The historic race first held in 1905 that traverses 7.4 miles of rugged terrain from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach is scheduled to be held Sunday morning at 8 a.m.

Runners will need to show a photo I.D. and provide proof of vaccination when checking in to receive their official race bib prior to the race. Volunteers also are required to be vaccinated in order to assist in the race.
Children under 12 not eligible for vaccinations will be required to wear face coverings, neck buffs, or masks at the start and finish areas and while on the trail. The Dipsea is encouraging all participants to wear masks, or neck buffs, during the event. Federal guidelines require masks to be worn in Stinson Beach Park so a mask or face covering will be required when finishing.
