Monrovia Unanimously Approves Bicycle Master Plan
In the plan calls for the city to build more bike paths, bike lanes and bike routes.

Monrovia, CA — The Monrovia City Council unanimously approved a new bicycle master plan at its monthly meeting this week.
The plan calls for the city to build 3.7 miles of bike paths, 5.1 miles of bike lanes and 17.9 miles of sharrow bike routes. The master plan was developed by the Los Angeles-based Alta Planning + Design.
The bike plan received overwhelming support from the community and from the city council.

The development and adoption of a bicycle master plan also makes the city eligible for federal and state grant funds, according to staff reports.
"The city’s plan has been prepared in accordance with the California Streets and Highways code which means, upon adoption, the City will become eligible for funding from the Bicycle Transportation Account, which is an annual state funding program for city and county projects that improve safety and convenience for bicyclists," staff reports said.

The city will still need to further review and study the plan before it can be fully implemented.
