Monrovia Unified On The Hunt For Deputy Superintendent

MONROVIA, CA — The Monrovia Unified School District Board of Education will vote Wednesday to create a new deputy superintendent position.

If approved, the deputy position will help oversee the district's day-to-day operations, according to a staff report.

The functions of a deputy superintendent include being "responsible for leadership and management of the internal operations of the district," the report said.

“[The deputy superintendent] provides administrative leadership for the district’s day-to-day operations and related support activities; provides leadership for implementation and monitoring of services; supports assessment and tracking of progress towards strategic plan goal achievement and implementation in order to support the accomplishment of plan objective,” the report said.

District officials are looking for someone with at least a master's degree in public education administration and seven years of school management experience.

Leadership Associates, a consulting firm, will also be brought on to help aid in the search for a deputy superintendent. The Board of Education will also vote to approve a $15,000 contract with the company during Wednesday's meeting.

The Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. The meeting will be available to stream online. Members of the public can submit a comment by email before the meeting.
