Free kids craft stations, special in-store events, and a Spark of Love Toy Drive in the 400 block of South Myrtle Avenue are also planned for Friday and Saturday, according to the Old Town Monrovia website.
Old Town Monrovia also has a Facebook page that is updated with various sales and specials business owners plan to offer to get residents to shop in town.
The push by the merchants is not just for Black Friday. Small Business Saturday is this weekend, and the City Council recently proclaimed December "Shop in Monrovia Month."
"Forget the mall...relax with us," retailers wrote on the Facebook site, also emphasizing how shopping local helps benefit the community economically.
