Special Meeting: School Board Narrowing Down Superintendent Candidates

The school board will start sorting through applications in a closed session on Monday to choose candidates for initial interviews.

The Monrovia Unified School District Board of Education will convene for a special closed session next week to consider candidates for the open superintendent position selected by a headhunter firm.

The board voted last month to hire the executive search firm Education Leadership Services to help find the district's next superintendent after Linda Wagner left for Anaheim.

Several campaigns have since been started on behalf of Interim Superintendent Deborah Collins calling on the board to appoint her as the head of MUSD.

A board agenda released late Thursday does not identify the number of candidates that will be considered or their identities. The board will select candidates for initial interviews in a closed session on Monday at 9:30 a.m., according to the agenda.
