Teenage Runaway, Friend Caught Trespassing In Man's Motel Room in Monrovia: Police

The two fled when they were discovered but the male friend dropped his wallet and both were arrested when they returned to retrieve it.

MONROVIA, CA -- A teenage runaway and her male companion was arrested for trespassing after allegedly caught trying to spend a night in another man's rented motel room in Monrovia, police said.

At around 11 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to the Oak Park Motel in the 900 block of East Huntington Avenue after a man reported that he found a young man and woman inside the room he had rented, police said.

The couple fled on foot after they were discovered but the young man dropped his wallet as he was fleeing, police said.

The two returned to the motel to returned to retrieve the wallet and were detained by police.

"Further investigation revealed the door had been left unlocked by management and they had only been in the room for a few minutes," Monrovia Police Department said.

The young woman was found be a 16-year-old runaway from Los Angeles, police said.

Both people were arrested and booked on trespassing charges, police said.
