A terrific organization is having a positive impact on the foothills from La Crescenta to Altadena. Founded in 2000, the Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy has preserved natural areas, planned regional trail systems, and educated residents about issues pertaining to local history and open space.

Recently, The Arroyos and Foothills Conservancy (AFC) successfully .  The 7.75 acre property is located atop Rosemont Avenue.   This energetic local conservancy has been working with Supervisor Antonovich, Wells Fargo and countless generous neighbors and community activists to raise private and county money to forever secure this property for all the residents of La Crescenta.

The AFC kicked off its local fundraising effort at a well-attended event at Rosemont Middle school on February 27, 2012.  The local fundraising proved successful this week when the final $13,000 was raised to cement the deal.  Town Councilmembers, neighbors and environmental activists joined AFC board members and staff at the kickoff to chart a course for the Rosemont purchase and preservation.  Less than three months later, those efforts were successful.

Well done to AFC and to all the generous local folks who stepped up to support this outstanding public, private and corporate success story.
