Where Have This Year's Burglaries Been in Montrose-La Crescenta?

We reported this week on the site on the six-month report for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department showing a dramatic increase in property crime, especially burglaries.

With 48 burglaries in Sheriff-patrolled areas through June 30 compared to 27 in the same period in 2012, some readers have asked where those burglaries located.

Using CrimeMapping.com, which has data from both the Sheriff's Department and Glendale Police Department, we have the answer.

The map above shows all burglaries within two miles of the center of La Crescenta.  The map is not a perfect representation of the first six months - it shows the six month period from January 11 to July 10.

For an interactive version of the map, allowing you to zoom in and zoom out, visit the CrimeMapping.com website.

It also shows parts of La Canada Flintridge and may exclude some fringe areas of La Crescenta.

Overall though it provides a fairly complete look at local burglaries - there were 88 of them during that six-month period, according to the CrimeMapping site.

They appear to be somewhat clustered in several general areas with some smaller gaps where none have occurred.
