City Of Moorpark: Princeton Avenue Construction: Stay Up To Date With Traffic Alerts

With construction now underway on the Princeton Avenue Improvement Project, the City of Moorpark has launched several ways for the public to stay apprised of traffic alerts and project updates:

“Princeton Avenue is a vital connection between the western and eastern parts of Moorpark, and we don’t want anybody to be surprised by unexpected road or lane closures,” said Moorpark Mayor Janice Parvin.  The City will post traffic alerts at least the day before they occur so that people will know ahead of time what’s happening the following day.

Once completed, Princeton Avenue will maintain one vehicle lane in each direction, a two-way left-turn lane, bike lanes, sidewalks, storm drain improvements, utility relocations, walls, landscaping, streetlighting, and broadband conduits.  The proposed improvements will utilize retaining walls to widen Princeton Avenue to accommodate the new facilities.

Construction is anticipated to continue through December 2023, with utility relocation and retaining wall construction to start first.  “Site preparation for moving utilities in the right-of-way has already begun, and these long retaining walls take quite some time to construct,” noted Daniel Kim, City Engineer/Public Works Director.  He added: “But everyone wants to get new pavement down as soon as possible.”

The www.moorparkca.gov/PrincetonAve website contains traffic alerts, before-and-after pictures, and other project information and history.  The dedicated PrincetonAve@moorparkca.gov E-mail address will allow the public to ask questions, get specific project updates, and to report any issues with the construction.  “We want to give the public every opportunity to know what’s going on and to report any concerns to us throughout the entire construction process,” remarked Kim.
