Google, Find Me A Clean Bathroom. Google Maps Getting Smart AI
The new Gemini tools for Google Maps are starting to roll out.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — California commuters will soon be carpooling with Google Gemini, with the AI assistant providing hands-free interactions in Google Maps, according to the Mountain View-based company.
Adding Gemini to the Google Maps app will allow drivers to ask for complex information, such as specific types of businesses, for instance, “a budget-friendly restaurant with vegan options along my route,” according to The Keyword, Google’s official blog. Gemini can also add events to users’ calendars and provide information about sports and the news.
Gemini will help drivers find their way by notifying them of disruptions on the road and giving directions based on landmarks like easy-to-spot businesses by analyzing Google Maps and Street View, The Keyword reported.

Conversely, drivers can report details about traffic disruptions verbally to Gemini, according to The Keyword.
Once drivers arrive at their destinations, they can ask Gemini questions about businesses and landmarks they see with Lens by tapping the camera in the search bar, holding their phone up to share their view, and then tapping the microphone when they see pins and asking questions “like you would a friend,” The Keyword reported.
