2 People Dead In Big Rig Crash At Domenigoni Parkway, Leon Road

Eastbound Domenigoni Parkway in Winchester was expected to remain closed for much of Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

WINCHESTER, CA — A crash Wednesday between a big rig and an SUV at a Winchester intersection killed two people and injured two others late Wednesday morning, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The crash was reported at approximately 11:40 a.m. at Domenigoni Parkway and Leon Road.

Two people died in the wreck, two others were sent to an area hospital with moderate injuries and one person was assessed at the scene and declined further treatment, according to the fire department.

Approximately 50 gallons of oil and diesel spilled onto the road during the crash. Hazmat crews were working to mop up the spill, but eastbound Domenigoni Parkway was expected to be closed for an "extended period of time," the fire department reported at 1 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash cause.
