Once at the scene, a 16-year-old girl told deputies she met up with her former roommate to talk. While inside his vehicle, the girl and the 19-year-old roommate had a disagreement, the sergeant said.

The situation turned violent. The roommate punched the girl and drove his vehicle off a 50-foot cliff with her inside. Both survived the plunge but the roommate used a knife to cut himself, according to Brito-Gonzalez.
