23 Cited In Menifee Bicycle, Pedestrian Safety Sting Involving Inflatable Dinosaur
Nearly two dozen drivers and pedestrians were stopped by police during the spooky season operation, which police plan to hold again soon.
MENIFEE, CA — In a sting that involved a Menifee police officer dressed in an inflatable dinosaur costume, nearly two dozen were cited during a pedestrian and bicycle safety sting on Wednesday.
Police were scanning for dangerous driving behaviors and focused on bicycle and pedestrian safety at Craig Avenue and Evans Road near Paloma Valley High School and moved over to Newport Road and Haun Road, according to the Menifee Police Department.
During the operation, the costumed officer legally crossed the street. Drivers who failed to yield to the dinosaur were ticketed.

“Safety is a shared responsibility, with drivers holding the greatest responsibility to help keep others on the road safe,” Chief Chris Karrer said. “We hope this operation serves as a reminder to everyone to look out for one another.”
The department says it will hold another bicycle and pedestrian safety operation, but the date has not been determined yet.
