40 Menifee Drivers Cited, 1 Arrested During Bicyle And Pedestrian Safety Operation

The operation was conducted in areas frequented by pedestrians and bicyclists.

MENIFEE, CA — During a bicycle and pedestrian safety operation in Menifee on Wednesday, 40 citations were issued to drivers accused of violating traffic laws, authorities said.

One driver was arrested and cited on suspicion of driving on a suspended license for a prior DUI, according to the Menifee Police Department. The vehicle was also impounded, police added.

Between 3 and 7 p.m., officers fanned out across several streets and intersections in the city, where 42 drivers and pedestrians were approached by police.

“Safety is a shared responsibility, with drivers holding the greatest responsibility in keeping the road safe,” Chief Chris Karrer said. “We hope this operation serves as a reminder to everyone to practice due care and to look out for one another.”

Chosen locations were areas like parks and schools that are frequently traveled by pedestrians and bicyclists.

The Menifee Police Department said it will hold another bicycle and pedestrian safety operation soon, but a date has not been announced yet.
