Armed Suspect Wearing Body Armor Shot, Killed By RivCo Deputy: Cops
The domestic violence suspect died at a local hospital.

HEMET, CA — A domestic violence suspect wearing body armor was shot and killed by a deputy in Hemet Tuesday night after he fired at law enforcement with an assault rifle, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported.
The shooting occurred after deputies assigned to the Hemet Sheriff's Station were called around 11:41 p.m. about a physical altercation between family members in the 26300 block of Jepson Court, according to the department.
A woman inside the home was reportedly injured, the agency said.

When deputies arrived at the scene, the "suspect was uncooperative and shut the door" and then fired at the law enforcement officials with an assault rifle from within the residence, according to the sheriff's department.
Armed with the rifle, the suspect then exited the home wearing body armor and fired at deputies a second time, the agency reported.

At least one deputy fired back and the suspect was hit. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died. His name was not released.
The injured woman was found inside the home and was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
No deputies were injured during the incident.
The deputy who shot the suspect will be placed on paid administrative leave according to the sheriff's department's policy. The deputy's name was not released.
The incident is being investigated by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
