HEMET, CA — A child who sustained a gunshot wound at a home in Hemet is expected to survive, police said Monday.
According to the Hemet Police Department, at about 9:20 p.m. on May 16, the agency received a call about a shooting in the 1800 block of Mayflower Place. When officers arrived, they found a juvenile with a single gunshot wound in the leg.
The injury was described as non-life-threatening.

The child, whose age and identity were not released, was sent to a local hospital for treatment.
Police were sparse on details but said "a firearm was discharged from inside the home, which resulted in the injury to the juvenile. Investigators believe this is an isolated incident that poses no danger to the public."
