Coroner IDs Man Killed In Crash Near Diamond Valley Lake
The 59-year-old man died at the scene.
HEMET, CA — A man who died in a rollover crash involving an SUV south of Hemet was identified Saturday.
Steven Kniffen was a 59-year-old Hemet resident.
The crash occurred about 3:50 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Minto Way and Sage Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said the driver of a Lincoln Navigator apparently lost control while traveling at an unknown speed and the SUV overturned alongside Minto Way.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department engine crews reached the scene just after 4 p.m. and discovered the two victims trapped inside the vehicle.

Firefighters freed the victims and pronounced Kniffen dead at the scene.
The other victim was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment of major injuries.
No lane closures were required as a result of the crash, which was under investigation.
