Coroner IDs Winchester Man Killed In SR-371 Crash

A fatal collision shut down this roadway between Palm Desert and Anza Tuesday night. Two people were airlifted from the scene with injuries.

WINCHESTER, CA — A Winchester man has died as a result of a two-vehicle crash in Anza on Tuesday evening, the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau announced.

Justin Bellare, 34, died on the westbound SR-371, just west of Bautista Road in Anza, according ot the coroner. His identity was released after notification of next of kin, according to the sheriff's department.

Shortly after 5 p.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department rushed to the scene of the two-vehicle crash, according to spokesperson Jasmine Wood.

"There were three people injured as a result of the crash, she said. "One person succumbed to injuries at the scene," she said. Two other patients suffered minor and critical injuries as a result of that collision, and both were flown to area hospitals by an airship, Wood told Patch.

Details of the crash were still unfolding, though residents shared that the roadway was closed for much of the night following the incident.

Bellare was injured at 5 p.m. in a crash on the roadway. He succumbed to his injuries shortly before 5:30 p.m. in the same location of the collision, according to the report.

California Highway Patrol- Indio station is investigating the incident. No other information was immediately available.
