DUI Checkpoint Results Released From Temecula, Perris Operations

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Four people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol after passing through a Temecula DUI/driver's license checkpoint over the weekend, sheriff's officials say.

The operation was held on Saturday at Old Town Front and First streets, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

In total, 552 vehicles pass through the checkpoint, the agency reports. Of those, 6 motorists were given field sobriety tests. Four of them were ultimately arrested for DUI.

Another four people were found to be driving without a proper license, according to sheriff's officials. Five vehicles were towed from the scene.

"DUI Checkpoints like this one are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests," the sheriff's department said in a news release. "Deputies were looking for signs of alcohol and / or drug impairment, along with deputies checking drivers for proper licensing."

Another checkpoint was held in nearby Perris on the same night, and three people were arrested on suspicion of DUI in that operation, according to the sheriff's department. Deputies also cited 22 motorists for driving without a proper license and towed six vehicles.
