Duo Accused In Hemet Murder Arraigned
One of the men is being held on $3 million bail in the case.

BANNING, CA — A probationer accused of gunning down a 23-year-old Hemet man during a confrontation outside a house pleaded not guilty Wednesday to murder and other charges.
Darrell Nadir Longshore, 20, of San Jacinto, also faces two counts of attempted murder, with sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations, stemming from the Nov. 15 attack on Ceddrick Newman in the 1500 block of Sunnybank Drive, near Ferngreen Drive.
Also arrested that day was Ferron Patrick Berry, 20, of Hemet, who is charged with being an accessory after the fact.

Both defendants were arraigned before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Mark Johnson, who scheduled a felony settlement conference for Jan. 18 at the Banning Justice Center.
Longshore is being held in lieu of $3 million bail at the Smith Correctional Facility. Berry is free on a $10,000 bond.

According to Hemet police Lt. Jeff Davis, Longshore and the victim had an undisclosed conflict, and the probationer allegedly opened fire about 4 p.m., wounding Newman in the upper body. Several other people were in the line of fire but were not hit, the lieutenant said.
Newman was taken to a trauma center, where he died a short time later.
Davis said detectives quickly developed leads pointing to Longshore as the alleged gunman, and he was arrested during the night.
Berry allegedly facilitated Longshore's getaway and was taken into custody around the same time.
A specific motive for the shooting was not revealed.
According to court records, Longshore has prior convictions for possession of controlled substances while armed and being an unlicensed operator of a motor vehicle.
Records show Berry has a prior conviction for driving under the influence.
