'EPiC' Changes Coming To Murrieta Rollerskating Rink
This beach-themed skating rink has drawn fans since it opened in 2013, and business kept rolling through COVID, but times are changing.

MURRIETA, CA — The tiki doors will soon shut to Murrieta's EPiC Rollertainment rollerskating rink, the owners announced this week.
The Southwest Riverside County rink is changing hands, the owners have confirmed with Patch.
Joe and Shauna Grammatico opened Murrieta's roller rink, located at 39809 Avenida Acacias, in 2013. Since then, the 28,000-square-foot rink has entertained kids, teens and adults, it survived COVID, and has evolved over the years.

With the sale comes the hope it will be preserved as a skating rink under its new owners, Grammatico told Patch.
Inside, the building holds an active beer and wine license, a first-grade maple flooring roller rink, upgraded DJ booth, high-end sound equipment, custom skate rack, and high-end brand rental skates, as well as a commercial kitchen and custom artwork by local artists throughout, according to the commercial listing.

It is unknown what will happen behind the closed tiki doors, whether there will be design changes, updates, or if business will just skate along as usual.
Details about the new owners and the sale are still unfolding, but EPiC, as we know it, will close in three short weeks, she said.
"Our final day will be Sunday, August 17th," owners Joe and Shauna Grammatico said in their online statement. "After nearly 12 incredible years in the Murrieta community, EPIC Rollertainment will be closing its doors. This journey has been nothing short of amazing, and we have truly loved every minute of it."
The skating rink has been a labor of love and was the fulfillment of Shauna's lifelong dream, she told Patch when they opened.
As a teenager, she worked at a Phoenix, Ariz. roller skating rink. They opened the rink in Murrieta, wanting something for families that would be fun for people of all ages. Theming out the space with the tiki doors, the beach-themed interior, the lifeguard towers, and more, for 12 years, they gave the Southwest Riverside County community somewhere to go.

According to Grammatico's statement: "It's been a second home, a place for unforgettable memories, and the birthplace of our very own skate family.
"We've watched your kids grow up on wheels, celebrated birthdays, hosted epic events, and built lifelong friendships. For that, we are endlessly grateful.
"If you've loved EPiC, now's the time to come get your final skate on before we say goodbye," she said. "Let's make these last weeks count!
The website is offering special added skating sessions and more special events as they get closer to closing day.
"This next chapter is a positive move for our family, and while change is never easy, we are confident that we are leaving you in great hands," she said. "From the bottom of our hearts - thank you for your love, support, and loyalty over the years. You've made EPIC more than a name... you made it a community."
